Der Maned Wolf (lat. Chrysocyon brachyurus), auch Guar oder Aguarachai genannt, ist ein fleischfressendes Säugetier der Hundefamilie, der einzige Vertreter der Gattung und des Typs der gemähten Wölfe.
In der wörtlichen Übersetzung aus dem Griechischen klingt der Name des Tieres wie "Goldhund mit kurzem Schwanz". Und die Tiere haben ihren russischen Namen aufgrund der dicken Mähne erhalten, die durch langes Haar im Nacken gebildet wurde.
