One of the most common birds of prey in Central Europe is the Common Kestrel. According to one of the versions, the bird got its name because of its unsuitability for use in falconry, for which it was called “empty”.
Besides Europe, the kestrel lives in North Africa and Western Asia. Depending on the amount of food in the bird’s habitat, they lead either a settled or migratory way of life. Usually, birds living in the northern regions of Europe and Asia migrate closer to the south of Europe or to Africa.
