Eagles are a genus of large birds of prey from the family of hawks. Different species of eagles live in Africa, Eurasia and North America. They can be found in the open spaces of different climatic zones: from forest-tundra to deserts.

The wingspan of the largest representatives of the genus can reach two and a half meters, and the body length up to 90 centimeters.

Eagles can nest high in the mountains, on treetops or simply on the ground, as the steppe eagle does. They hunt for vertebrates of small size, which are looked out for, soaring in the sky or sitting on an elevated position. Some species of eagles feed on carrion.
