Steppe Eagle is a rare species of hawk from the family of hawks. Today, the steppe eagles are listed in the Red Book as an endangered species, but only 3 decades ago predators were rather numerous and widespread in most of northern Eurasia.
Previously, steppe eagles were also called in appearance very similar stone eagles, settled in Africa and India. DNA tests made it possible to divide the birds into independent, but alas, Red Book species that are on the verge of survival.
